Filament is located in the Fifth Ward, just south of downtown and on the northern end of Walker’s Point. The building has some history as a wedding venue, but is now operated by one of our favorite vendors and we couldn’t be more excited!
The crew from Milwaukee Airwaves and the Ivy House are rocking out this new venue, so #MKECouples you know you’ll be in good hands. Read on to learn more about why you should choose Filament for your wedding venue.
All About Filament
Filament is a funky, urban event space and we LOVE it. With unique elements like windows overlooking the train tracks and a large bar and open space floor plan, this venue is perfect for weddings and parties.

Inside Filament is a beautiful, classic Milwaukee venue with cream city brick. The space is enhanced by filament lights (thus the name!), fresh plants and unique decor. We love all of the decor, but one thing that stands out is the neon “Stay Gold” sign that makes for a perfect photo spot. Fun fact – Ramsey, one of Filament’s owners, has a “Stay Gold” tattoo which comes from this famous line in the novel/movie “The Outsiders”.
The sit down capacity at Filament is 200. You also have the option to throw an amazing awesome “block party” outside on the street for cocktail hour or even an outdoor ceremony or reception.

Catering and Drinks
Filament offers several options from their approved caterers list. Filament has some amazing staff and bartenders on site and they love to customize drink packages, so be sure to ask! While the indoor bar is huge (and beautiful) they also have a portable rolling bar available for an additional fee for your cocktail hour should you leverage the lobby or outdoor space.
Ceremony Options
You can definitely have your ceremony at Filament and the helpful staff can help you plan a fun and efficient room flip. Most couples opt to to have their ceremony inside. We highly suggest leveraging the antique ladder suspended from the ceiling as a focal point. So many creative options exist to style it with greenery, fabric, or floral, like the beautiful work from Feisty Flowers featured in this article.

Another creative option we are in love with is leveraging the street just outside Filament. The venue is conveniently located on a industrial cul-de-sac and some couples are opting to incorporate this space into their day. From an urban outdoor ceremony to a block party during your room flip and reception, it’s as simple as getting a block party permit from the City which the Filament crew can help you with.
The Neighborhood – Restaurants, Bars and More
As mentioned, Filament is in Walkers Point on the western border of the Third Ward and a few blocks south of Downtown. Hotels and hip night spots are a quick jaunt should you and your guests want to continue the party after your wedding night is over.

Parking, Hotels and Shuttles
Filament is located super close to the Third Ward and Downtown making your Milwaukee hotel room block options pretty easy. There is ample street parking in the area, as well as a 65 car lot across from Filament that is available to rent for you and your guests.
Working with Industry Experts
The Filament space has been an event venue with prior iterations including Rail Hall and most recently The Seeboth, but we are so excited it has been re-envisioned by some of our fave industry experts at Milwaukee Airwaves and The Ivy House. With its extensive lighting updates, sound system enhancements, live plant walls and stylish fixtures, we can’t wait to keep seeing awesome weddings take place in this great space.
