9 Ways Your Wedding is Making a Positive Impact on Milwaukee

July 10, 2019 by Angela Quigley

Married In Milwaukee
Thanks to all you awesome #MKEBrides & #MKEGrooms! Y’all rock! Photo by Reminisce Studio

Hey awesome #MKEBrides & #MKEGrooms! We just wanted to write this article to thank you for having your wedding in Milwaukee. Not only will it be an amazing celebration of your love with your friends and family – but it also contributes to the local economy, helps small business and local creatives. How badass is that?!?

1. Supporting Local Business

Did you know that when spending money locally, 48% of each purchase is recirculated locally, compared to less than 14% of purchases at chain stores?

That number is even higher with wedding vendors such as florists who grow their own flowers, invitation designers who use local printers, caterers who source food locally… seriously, the list is endless.

With weddings contributing $220 Million+ to the Metro-Milwaukee (MKE/WKS) economy, it’s great to know most of it stays hyper-local thanks to you!

2. Hiring Artists

Since starting Married In Milwaukee almost 7 years ago, we have been blown away by the artistic talent that exists within the wedding community.

Wedding vendors are amazing curators who have been able to make a living from creating pieces of art and amazing experiences for you AND your wedding guests.

Big thanks to you for hiring them and yay for artists being able to make a decent living!

3. Letting Everyone Know How Awesome Milwaukee Is

Thank goodness for engaged couples and wedding photographers (and wedding videographers). Without y’all, we wouldn’t have beautiful images of amazing couples in love showcasing our City and beyond.

From engagement sessions in Milwaukee neighborhoods we haven’t even heard about, to amazing wedding photos showcasing Milwaukee’s crown jewel neighborhood – The Historic Third Ward, you guys remind us and all of Milwaukee why we are so great!

4. Always Showing Some #MKELove

Yup, WE know Milwaukee’s awesome, YOU know Milwaukee’s awesome, but some people don’t know… so hats off to you for all the cool Milwaukee stuff you incorporate into your day to show ’em what they don’t know.

From wedding favors, to guests books, to dancing sausages and Milwaukee food… you’ve made showing some #MKELove on your wedding day a MUST!

5. Showcasing Milwaukee to Out of Town Guests

You can estimate 75% of your out of town guests will attend your wedding and with 8,000+ weddings in Metro Milwaukee yearly, the number of people visiting and enjoying Milwaukee because of you is HUGE!

Out-of-towners also add to our local economy via rehearsal dinners, hotel stays, tourism dollars, not to mention future vacation visits. Milwaukee is hugely underrated and you help squash the naysayers about our awesomeness. Be sure to check out Visit Milwaukee for some fun visitor guides!

6. Sharing your Wedding Budgets

This is a personal shout out to the almost 80 couples who have shared their detailed Milwaukee wedding budget information with us via our super popular Wedding Cost Breakdown series.

They have helped the thousands of couples getting married in Milwaukee to accurately budget for their upcoming wedding. If you haven’t checked them out yet, we’ve featured weddings from $5K – $106K, and everywhere in between, all in the Metro Milwaukee area.

7. Treating your Wedding Vendors Awesome

Not a day goes by that we don’t hear from some of our MIM Family of wedding vendors about how much they LOVE their clients. You guys rock with your thank you notes, vendor gifts and cash tips.

Wedding vendors have a tough job to do sometimes working 12-14 hour days, yet staying committed to making your day special. Thankful clients make it all worthwhile. 🙂

8. Accentuating the Positive in Our City

Okay… so let’s keep it real. Milwaukee, much like other metropolitan areas, well… we’ve got some things to work on. But in the spirit of keeping it positive, Milwaukee weddings are all that and a bag of chips.

From barn weddings, to brewery weddings, historic weddings, and neighborhood weddings… all within a short drive of each other… it’s no wonder Milwaukee has become a destination wedding city bringing in couples from all over the country to get married here.

9. Thanks for Following Us and Supporting Our Family of Vendors

Married In Milwaukee is unique… we write weekly articles about getting married in the Milwaukee area and we are on social media every day!

That doesn’t exist in most cities and wouldn’t exist without couples like you getting married here, following our social media, reading our blog, and supporting the #MIMFamily of Wedding Vendors.
