Onesto, located in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward, was updated and re-opened by the Hospitality Democracy group in late 2014. This NYC Loft space stands apart from other venues for its combination of historic cream city brick, skylights, windows and their three working fireplaces.
Onesto, along with 3 other amazing venues, is part of our Top 4 New Venues article.
Capacity and Configuration
Onesto is perfect for weddings with 75 guests for sit down dinner. You can greatly expand its capacity with a cocktail reception, fitting up to 150 guests.
Its unique layout and expansive full bar offers cozy spaces and multiple layout options for brides and grooms. You also can’t beat the windows overlooking Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward on a busy Saturday night.
Third Ward Location
The Third Ward has definitely become one of the hottest neighborhoods in Milwaukee over the past 10 years and Onesto is located in the heart of it. Couples who want to showcase their love of Milwaukee will find this neighborhood sure to impress. A Kimpton Hotel will open across the street from Onesto in 2016.
Being located in the Third Ward also allows for a huge list of great photo locations all within walking distance. Definitely a plus.

Cozy, Historic Milwaukee Space
The building that houses Onesto was built in 1895 by architect Carl Itzel. He lived in the upstairs space that now is host to various events. It’s also likely why the room has extensive natural light from the amazing skylights and tall windows.
We love the three fully-functional fireplaces that in a past life warmed the Itzel family. They work to create cozy, unique and defined spaces for you and your guests to gather.
Onesto has a long, fully stocked bar directly in the middle of the space allowing for easy access to drinks throughout the night. Customizable chalkboards are pre-existing and can be utilized to list your signature cocktail or beer and wine offerings.
The Food
Onesto’s specialty is made from scratch, Italian food with a modern twist. Their antipasto platters are to die for and their homemade pastas are delicious. And what doesn’t say Wisconsin more than a cheese wheel tiered “wedding cake.”

If pasta isn’t necessarily your thing, catering from any of the Hospitality Democracy brands can be incorporated. From pulled pork sliders from Smoke Shack, to small plate vegetarian dishes from Swig, to vegan doughnuts from Holey Moley, you’re sure to find something on the menu you like.
