In continuation of Dessert Month here at Married In Milwaukee, this article features Miss Julia’s Bake Shop – the self-proclaimed first “cupcakery” to open in the Metro Milwaukee area. While the trend of wedding cupcakes has been around for a few years now, it doesn’t appear to be going anywhere. There’s something about cakes you can hold in your hand that just make me happy.
About Miss Julia’s Bake Shop
Paula Heinz, owner of Miss Julia’s Bake Shop, has been making cupcakes out of their Brookfield bakery on Bluemound Road since 2010. But Paula has been making cupcakes long before opening her shop. Miss Julia’s does have quite a few tasty options of cupcake flavors and I have to admit, some of my favorite cupcakes in town are made here.
The classic Red Velvet is may absolute fav, while the Chocolate Midnight is perfectly moist chocolate cake topped with a generous portion of decadent chocolate frosting, which is then rolled in tiny flakes of chocolate. My mother-in-law requests it for every birthday. It is a little piece of heaven.
Still want to have the cake cutting tradition live on for your wedding? Miss Julia offers a cutting cake for just these couples. The fabulous Erin Salerno decorates cakes at the cupcakery, so even your cutting cake will be absolutely gorgeous. If you haven’t heard of Erin yet, you will soon – she has some awesome creations, including a Simpson’s cake that is my personal favorite.
Benefits of Wedding Cupcakes
Cupcakes are a fun way to show your personality. They are cute, tasty and allow you to offer multiple flavors, at times more than a traditional cake will allow you to offer. Some couples choose to set up a display of cupcakes, and allow guests to serve themselves and choose their own flavor. I know as a guest if I had the option, I’d love to choose my flavor.
Miss Julia has various display options available for your wedding cupcakes, all depending on how you want to serve them and your chosen reception venue. An added bonus is you can sometimes avoid the venue’s cake cutting fee. Check out this beautiful wedding cupcake display captured by Front Room Photography:
