A Note from the Couple
We asked this happy couple to tell us about their planning and budgeting process, and this is what they had to say:
The most important aspects to us were the venue, food and beverages, and photographer, so we were willing to be a little bit flexible with our budget in order to get exactly what we wanted in these areas.
The Venue:
We knew that we wanted an outdoor wedding and reception venue that would hold roughly 100 people. We went with Hubbard Park as we had been there several times before and loved the setting by the river. Also, we could have the reception in the Hubbard Park Lodge, and having both the ceremony and reception in the same location was a big plus. The Food and Beverage:
Along with the venue came the food and beverage packages. We originally went with the standard food and beverage packages as the options were more than sufficient. However, Hubbard Park requires a minimum of $6,000 for evening wedding receptions at the Lodge, and we were under that. In the end, we upgraded our beverage package to include a fully open bar and hors d’oeuvres before dinner. The Photographer:
For our photographer, we chose to go with Catherine Winkleman Photography. We really liked Catherine, her portfolio, the different options for albums that were available, and engagement photos were included in the package as well. We thought her price was very fair for what we received. Overall, we had an excellent experience with Catherine. Our photos turned out fantastic and we’ll be returning to her for any other professional photography needs. The Desserts, Officiant and Music:
After the venue, food/beverage, and photographer, our focus was on the desserts, the officiant, and music. Obviously, these were still very important parts of our wedding, but we were a little more limited with our budget. Given that, everything went great with very smoothly with Classy Girl Cupcakes, ACA Entertainment, and Reverend Stern. We would recommend them to anyone considering a wedding in the Milwaukee area.– The Happy Couple
