We love weddings at the Harley-Davidson Museum. It doesn’t get much more Milwaukee than Harley and they have awesome spaces to host your big day. So when we found out they were remodeling their luxury seasonal venue Chrome, we knew we had to showcase it.
Located on West Canal just off of 6th Street, the Harley-Davidson Museum‘s campus is nestled in between downtown and Walker’s Point. This is a great location, close to hotels, bars, restaurants, the river and the lake. While the Museum has several spaces to host a wedding, this article will focus on Chrome, their seasonal tent-like structure that’s open 180 days out of the year.
The New and Improved Chrome
In 2014 The Harley-Davidson Museum decided to improve upon Chrome and constructed a new seasonal space (generally open May-October). The new space nearly doubled in size and added in some awesome features, such as:
- 6 Stunning Chandeliers
- Taller, Drapped Ceilings
- Floor to Ceiling Glass Windows
- Audio/Visual Equipment
- AC/Heating for Supreme Comfort
If you’d like to split the space, each half has a capacity of 200. This can work great if you want to do a cocktail hour in one half and dinner in the other. Note that they can’t move the wall during your event.
Weddings on the H-D Museum Campus
The Harley-Davidson Museum is made up of several buildings and outdoor spaces. This is very cool and gives your guests the option of checking out the museum (which is free for wedding guests), or just taking a stroll around the beautiful grounds. It also gives you different ceremony options and photo opps.
Ceremony Options
If you book your reception in Chrome, you have two options for your wedding ceremony. You can have it outdoors on the south east lawn next to Chrome, or you can have it inside Chrome.
If you choose to have it inside it will take them about an hour and a half to flip the room. Durning the flip, your guests can enjoy the museum, the grounds, or head over to Motor for a drink.
Excellent Food
We don’t make a claim like “excellent food” unless we know it to be a fact. And with Harley, we do. We’ve been to three events at Chrome over the last year and at each one the food was delicious. Service was awesome too.
Photo Opportunities
This is Harley, one of the top brands in the world. And this branding shows when you visit the museum – it also makes for great photo opps. Take a stroll around the grounds and we’re sure you’ll find plenty.
Free Guest Parking
Worried about your out-of-town guests parking in downtown Milwaukee? Don’t be – the H-D Museum has plenty of free parking on their grounds. They even have overflow lots across the street just in case.
Other Amenities Included with Your Rental
The Harley-Davidson Museum is generous with their amenities and they have the following available:
- 400 Chairs
- 8′ and 6′ Round Tables
- Cocktail Tables
- Basic Black Linens
- Basic silverware and plates
- Dance Floor
- A/V including 2 screens, 2 projectors, microphones and all connections

The Harley Museum’s new Chrome is an absolute blast and we love that they made the investment in a new and improved Milwaukee wedding venue. Learn more about weddings at Chrome and the Harley-Davidson Museum on their website: www.harley-davidson.com
