A Note From The Couple
We asked the couple to tell us about their planning and budgeting process, and this is what they had to say:
We started planning our wedding thinking we could get away with a budget of about $10,000 – anymore was just a waste. As we started looking around and talking about what we actually wanted, we realized we were going to be way over that – which was fine. Go big or go home, right?
The Harley-Davidson Museum seemed the perfect fit for us. We both adore Milwaukee and Adam has been an avid rider for some time – with the Museum’s 10th birthday and the 115th celebration of Harley-Davidson, what better place! We were especially excited to book The Garage for the reception, as they typically only rent those out on anniversary years. We even held the ceremony outside on The Founder’s Terrace, which proved quite convenient for all of our guests – not to mention an awesome area for the bagpiper to play!!
The whole staff at the H-D Museum and Levy Restaurants was awesome. Our main contact Alex was extremely attentive and easy to work with – she even was able to get the chef to design an off-menu entrée to satisfy my Mexican food obsession. And we can’t forget the Jameson… although not part of any bar packages they currently offer, we were able to work out a deal so that Jameson was readily available all night.
The bulk of our budget definitely went towards food and drink. We cringed at times thinking of the extra cost associated with hosting a completely open bar for 6 hours, but in the end we knew it was the right decision. We love entertaining at our home, and our wedding should be no different.
Our next biggest expense was the DJ and lighting group. We went with Exciting Events and opted for some additional lighting options and pole wraps for inside the venue. We knew they were more expensive than some of the others, but they also had rave reviews and wanted the day to go smoothly. Everything ended up looking gorgeous. And our DJ was great! Very easy to work with!!
Flowers were very important to us, and we wanted them to be big and colorful. We chose Parkway Floral as we’ve known the owner Carly for some time. They did a fantastic job and were very accommodating and affordable. We couldn’t have asked for better.
We didn’t care about a cake, and instead opted for a dessert bar. We hired Simmas Bakery for that, because after all, they make the best black-bottom cupcakes EVER!!! Yum!
Once the wedding was done, it was off to Ireland!! We used Trip Masters to book that trip, and would use them again in a pinch.
All in all, everything went perfectly!
A BIG thanks to the couple for sharing their awesome Harley-Davidson Museum wedding and to Janviere Photography for the photos!
