As I prepared for this article, I sat down with our MIM Family of Invitation Designers for a listening session. I learned so much from these graphic designers and artists and I’d like to share some of it with you, along with photos of their beautiful work.

Wedding invitations are often the first time your guests get a peek into your wedding day — your colors, the vibe, the style, the details of your big day — and custom invitations created by a local designer are sure to not only impress, but easily and accurately let your guests know the details.

For tips on wedding invite cost and why hiring local for your invites is your best decision check out the bottom of the article or click here. Get your Pinterest board ready for these pretties!

Tips for Hiring a Local Wedding Invitations Designer

1. Starting Cost of Wedding Invitations

When buying greeting cards, a $4 – $5 price tag for each card is a general rule of thumb. Use this as a starting point for your wedding invitations and go up from there based on the number of paper goods included in your invitations suite, design elements (i.e. letterpress and foil printing adds cost).

2. Face-to-Face Meeting

A HUGE benefit to hiring a local wedding invitations designer is you get to meet with them in person and talk about your wedding. Things like etiquette, blended families, working within a determined budget, and making sure all the right details are included in your invites is just the beginning of what they can help you with.

3. Preparing for Your Meeting

Schedule your meeting 12 to 6 months out from your wedding date. Talk with your spouse on what you want before your designer meeting and have an idea of quantity needed, which is different than your guest count.

4. Customized Wedding Invitations

All of the wedding invitations featured in this article were created by the artists themselves. Having this one of a kind design allows you to have exactly what you want on your wedding invite and is an amazing keepsake for your wedding day.

5. Coordinating Paper Goods

Deciding on your wedding invite design can lead you down a path of inspiration for other coordinating paper goods for your wedding. From table numbers, save-the-dates, menu cards, seating charts, ceremony programs and beyond, working with the same designer can guarantee a cohesively beautiful aesthetic for your wedding decor.

6. Bring a Clean Invite on your Wedding Day

It may be an afterthought, but since you’ve already hired an amazing Milwaukee wedding photographer for your wedding, be sure to bring a clean, un-mailed version of your wedding invites to your wedding day so they can photograph it!
