It’s all about the shoes – well not really. I have to admit that I am bummed to have missed out on the awesome trend of brides wearing shoes that match her wedding colors. <sigh> But check out these wedding photos from Temika and Jerry Reaves’ wedding also featuring the cutest teal shoes. Their photographers, Amy and Chris McManigal of McManigal Photography, did a fantastic job capturing their day. The McManigal’s creativity and ability to capture private moments are memories that last a lifetime.
Using Twitter to find Your Wedding Vendors
When we relaunched MarriedInMilwaukee.com we really started using our Twitter account, @MarriedInMKE, to network with Milwaukee wedding vendors. The results? It worked! The majority of the vendors we’ve featured on our site came from a simple Twitter conversation and in the process we’ve developed quite a great list of Milwaukee wedding professionals on Twitter.
Unique Bridal Show – Weddings in the Ward
There are a lot of wedding events that go on this time of year, but Weddings in the Ward is by far the most unique and fun bridal event I’ve come across. Taking place on February 25, 2012 this event gives you access to an array of awesome wedding vendors all within walking distance of each other located in the fashionable Third Ward in downtown Milwaukee.
To DJ or Not to DJ – That is the Question
When sitting down with a friend over lunch the other day, she asked the question: “Does anybody even use a DJ for weddings anymore?” I hadn’t really even thought about it as I used a DJ for my own wedding and didn’t really consider not having one or other options. To figure out why a couple should hire a DJ, Ramsey Renno, owner of Milwaukee Airwaves, had some great insight.
Milwaukee Wedding Vendors – Top 5 A-List Winners
On an annual basis, news channel WISN 12 creates a listing of top Milwaukee vendors as voted by their users. Here are the top Milwaukee Wedding vendors for 2011 by category. Also check out our featured vendor article on Petals Floral Design – one of the A-List winners for best Milwaukee wedding flowers.
Milwaukee Floral Love – Petals Floral Design
There are many florists and floral design artists in Milwaukee, but I can personally attest to one company in particular, Petals Floral Design in Wauwatosa. I used Petals for my own wedding a few years ago, and I’ve had friends use them since. Petals has everything you are looking for in floral design for your wedding – awesome people to work with, willing to stay within a budget and most importantly, beautiful, creative and meticulously designed wedding floral arrangements.
Remember Flipbooks? Cool New Idea for your Wedding!
So I am a big fan of photo booths at weddings. In fact, I have a bad habit of hogging the booth and taking multiple pictures, glamour shots style (sorry Olivia/Hakan and Jackie/Mike). I recently became aware of an awesome idea for wedding favors, a mobile flipbook studio!
Buying Local for your Wedding
Local First Milwaukee is hosting a gift fair this Saturday December 3rd at Lakefront Palm Garden (Lakefront Brewery) with close to 40 local vendors. This would be a great place to check out some local vendors to potentially purchase things for your wedding. From bakeries to jewelry, to other unique things for your wedding, this could be the place. Check out their website for more info.
Milwaukee Wedding Jewelry – Buy Local
I’ve been in a few weddings where the brides have ordered their wedding jewelry online. This option can be great for brides who are comfortable ordering the jewelry sight unseen, but for someone like me, I’d prefer to see it in person. This allows you the ability to match it exactly with your dress (bridesmaids or wedding dress) and really get a good feel for what you want.
